Vaios LappasSpeaker profile: Vaios Lappas

Vaios Lappas graduated from Toronto's Ryerson University in 1998 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering, following that qualification up with a Masters of Space Studies at the International Space University in Strasbourg in 1999.

He arrived at Surrey in 1999 to carry out his PhD at Surrey Space Centre, completing his research into "A control moment gyroscope-based attitude control subsystem for agile small satellites" in 2002.

From 2002 until 2004, Vaios was a research fellow at Surrey Space Centre where he worked on a variety of projects including control moment gyroscopes, solar sail systems design and altitude control and Mars ascent vehicles.

Professor Lappas was appointed lecturer in attitude/orbit control systems in December 2004 and teaches under- and postgraduate courses in the School of Electronics.
